Worm gears are special gear that resembles screws and can be used to drive spur gears or helical gears. Worm gears like helical gears allow to non - intersecting "Skew" shafts to mesh normally the two shafts are at a right angle to each other. A worm gear is equivalent to a 'V' type skew thread and another way of looking at a worm gear is that it is a helical gear with a very high helix angle. Worm gears are normally used when a high gear ratio is desired or again when the shafts are perpendicular to each other. One important feature of worm gear meshes that is often of use is their irreversibility. When worm gear is turned the meshing spur gear will turn, but turning the spur gear will not turn the worm gear. The resulting mesh is "Self - locking" and it is useful in ratcheting mechanisms.

Use of Worm and Worm Wheel :

Gear drives are used for shaft, the axes of which do not intersect and are perpendicular to each other. The worm imposes high thrust load, while the worm wheel imposes high radial load on the shafts. Worm gears drives are characterized by high speed reductions ratio.

We manufacture Worm and Worm Wheel with following specifications:

1. Outer Diameter: up to 500mm.
2. Module: 1 module to 10 module
3. Hub options: Worm gear available with or without hub.
4. Ratio: capable of ratios of up to 400:1.
5. Threads: right-hand and left-hand threads available for worm gear and worm in single, double, triple or quadruple threads.
